The images below are a visual log of the sessions taken to complete "Cultural Mutation", 48" x 60" oil painting on canvas. Each painting session requires approximately 6-8 hours. This painting is the largest work in the Paradigm Shift Series. Unlike some of my previous work, this series excludes any use of paint mediums. I mix burnt sienna, raw sienna, cadmium red, titanium white, yellow ochre, naples yellow, cadmium orange, burnt umber, raw umber, and ultraviolet purple on the palette. After applying thick layers of paint on the canvas, I use a chaotic swirl stroke to combine the saturation of colors to create a rich appearance. White sable brushes are used for fine detail and synthetic brushes are used for mixing on the canvas.
