"DECONSTRUCTION" - exhibit statement
2001-2002
Over the past year, the paintings and drawings I have created are non-representational abstractions. The imagery is inspired by Futurism with a touch of graffiti tagging. My compositions include interlacing linear contours with the curves of figures. At the same time, a wide range of monochromatic hues define the illusion of depressions in carefully selected sections.
In the paintings, the canvas is hidden behind thick layers of oil paint. The texture of the paints accent a deliberate rawness contrasting a meticulous combination of lines.

The drawings are often used as prototypes for paintings. Simultaneously, they function as a separate division of art. The color pencil medium dictates a different approach to blending pigments which produces refined gradations.

At an initial glance, the work in "Deconstruction" exhibition appears dramatically different from my previous work. Through further investigation, you will find elements in my earlier work apparent in my latest abstractions.
1992-1998
As I worked in various mediums, my general focus was incorporating psychological and political concepts of society, sexuality, existentialism, and dreams. At the same time, experimentation with landscapes, figures, and abstraction is evident. The following lists are of specific works that epitomize my ideas during this time:
Sexuality
Society
Dreams
